We're excited to announce the latest albumworks innovation - a new binding technology called PUR glue. PUR glue is a state of the art binding technology that means more elegant binding (no visible stitch line anymore), books that lay flatter and even stronger construction. PUR Glue is a special glue technology that is a one way glue. It is heat resistant, cold resistant, flexible and durable. That means after it has cured, even if you heat it again (or put it in water) it does not change its makeup. The glue is up to 2.5x stronger than PVA glues used in traditional book binding and has come to be accepted in the book binding industry as the 'state-of-the-art' and is ideally suited for high quality photobooks.
We can vouch for the strength of the binding. We have tried tug-a-war with our photo book text blocks amongst the staff and come off second best. Other "tests" have included jumping on the photobook gutter to try and break the spine and suspending the photobook from one of its pages and adding downward pressure until something gives. The answer is that the paper will always tear before the binding lets go and that's great news for photobook quality.
