I hope that last week’s article, Photo Books 101: Can I use my Facebook photos?, helped!
If (like me) you grew up in a world where you took photos and had them developed, you’ll be familiar with the old photo album. Whether you had those ones where you peeled back the plastic, the slide‐ins or you carefully mounted them with sticky corner bits, most of us used as many photos as we could. But there may be a better way to showcase your photos so they tell a beautiful story...
Tons of people ask us...
How many photos can I include per page and per album?
That’s an easy one ... it’s totally up to you!albumworks is really big on giving you full creative control. So it really comes down to what works best in telling your story. A few rules of thumb can help you make the most of your space though ...
Lots of pictures make a page busy. There won’t be any ‘hero’ shot that your eye would be drawn too - but you will fit in all the photos you want to include. And of course, you’ve got flexibility to experiment with different layouts.
On the other hand, using fewer images per page lets you create a very artistic result. You can make some shots bigger, pull one out as the ‘main feature’ and make the page a real eye catcher. Don’t forget the stunning full page photo spreads too.
The albumworks editor really shines at letting you spread loads of photos over a big page area. So the very best thing to do is try out different arrangements and see what tells your story best.
How many photos you should use is really a personal thing. I always remember this thought I read somewhere on the internet:
“The real test of a great layout is not when there’s nothing left to ad, but when it can’t be improved by taking something away.”
Hope that helps? Check back again next week when I’ll clear up a common print quality question for you in Photo Books 101: What DPI and Colour Space do you print in?
Look forward to catching up then!
Sandra
