Working with Layouts Part 3

How to create a Photo Book: Binding

My last post, Photo Books 101: What is the Exclamation Mark?, explained the importance of high quality Photo Resolution. But those exclamation marks are not the only way the editor helps you with content. When you order a Photo Book, what you see on a 2D screen must be made into a 3D book - including a spine and binding.

Here’s what you need to know about the binding zone.

What is the grey shaded area in the middle of my page spread?

That’s our binding zone. Just our nifty way of showing you where the binding will go to bring your double page spreads together. This way you can make sure none of your photos or text gets lost in the binding ‘fold’. The grey shows you just how pages will fall after your album’s been bound, so there’s no unwanted surprises – like missing words or ‘lost’ picture corners.

Be sure to come by again next week because we’ll be chatting about setting up cool background colours in Photo Books 101: Can I have a Solid Background Colour?.

Catch you later!

Sandra.
