Working with Layouts Part 1

When you open a page layout you may have seen prompts jump out at you. What I mean is a random explanation mark, red framing, grey shading ... that sort of thing. These are actually layout cues to help you set up a better finished product.
Today we begin the first in our Photo Books 101 tutorial mini-series: ‘Working with Layouts’.
By far, the number 1 question we get asked is:
What is the Red Line I see around my page layouts?
Aha...I see you’ve met our trim lines. Basically this shows you where we aim to trim your album so all the page sizes match. You can use the red line as your guide for dropping in images and writing. We’re not setting boundaries ... trim lines are all about the safety zone.
As a rule of thumb, anything that goes over the red line might be lopped off during trimming. So it pays to keep your important content about 1cm away from the red line and spread all full page images over the page edge.
Shortly, I’ll be putting together my next post, Photo Books 101: What is the Exclamation Mark? This is another handy feature within the Albumworks Editor that’s there to help your Photo Book story unfold.
See you next week!
