What is the shaded area between 2 pages in the editor?
The shaded or greyed-out area in the middle of your two-page spread is called the gutter. This is where the pages are bound together in your finished photo book.
Because of the binding process, anything placed in the gutter area — like text or important parts of a photo — may be lost or cut off. For this reason, we strongly recommend keeping all text and key parts of your images well clear of the gutter, especially in books with a high page count.
If you’re designing a Layflat Photo Book, there is no gutter so you don’t need to worry about this.
Tip: Use the Preview button in the editor to double-check your layout and make sure nothing important is sitting in the gutter area.
